What it means in practice
90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.
How the Dominican Republic counts your stay: Tourists may stay 30 days from entry. Staying longer is allowed if you pay the stay fee (tasa de estadía): online at migracion.gob.do or at the airport immigration desk when you leave, e.g. RD$3,500 for a stay of 30–90 days, more for longer bands.

- E-Ticket (electronic entry and exit form) — Before you reach immigration, both for arrival and for departure; Free on the official website. Mandatory for all passengers, foreign and Dominican, including children (children skip the customs section). One person can file for up to seven family members. The form produces a QR code that you show at immigration and customs. Use only eticket.migracion.gob.do; other sites charge for a free form. Official site
- Return or onward ticket — Before departure; shown at check-in and on arrival; Price of the ticket. Since 28 April 2023 foreign passengers must show both an entry and an exit ticket. Dominican citizens and legal residents are exempt. Official site

How to avoid overstaying
- Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
- Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
- Extend before you run out. A formal extension (prórroga) up to 120 days in total can be requested from the Dirección General de Migración online or in person; the request is free, you pay only the fee for the days requested. You need a passport copy, last entry stamp, return ticket, proof of funds and a medical certificate; processing takes about 3 working days.
- What overstaying costs. Paying the overstay fee at departure settles the extra days but is not a permit to stay; for long stays apply for a formal extension in advance.
