• Health travel declaration — Within 72 hours before travel, for entry and for exit; Free. Complete it on the Sierra Leone Health Travel Portal and keep the QR code or reference number to show immigration. Without it entry or departure can be delayed or refused. Official site
• Yellow fever vaccination certificate — Vaccinate at least 10 days before arrival; Depends on the vaccination centre. A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is required to enter. For tourism and business: single-entry visa valid 90 days for a stay of up to 30 days, or multiple-entry visa valid 365 days for trips of up to 30 days each. • Enhanced Ebola health screening on arrival
• Strict limits on importing foreign cash; exporting precious stones requires a licence

How to avoid overstaying

• Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
• Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
• Extend before you run out. Longer stays or other purposes need the appropriate visa from a Sierra Leone mission.
• Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Sierra Leone. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
