Tajikistan visa for Mexican citizens

Visa-free

30 days visa-free

Mexican citizens can visit Tajikistan without a visa for up to 30 days. Avoid all areas near the Afghan border: there have been armed attacks since November 2025. Travel to the Pamirs (Gorno-Badakhshan, GBAO) needs a separate permit, and visas are never issued at land borders.

What it means in practice

30 days is about a month. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 30 November 2026, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

For a longer base you need an extension, if one exists, or a different visa from the start. Repeated back-to-back entries are at the officer's discretion.

How Tajikistan counts your stay: Visa-free: up to 30 days, with registration within 10 working days. E-visa: up to 60 days, no registration needed. Even a short overstay brings a fine and requires an exit visa, which is not issued at airports.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • GBAO (Pamir) permit (optional) — Together with the visa, before travel; in Tajikistan allow up to three weeks; Separate fee. Required in addition to a visa or visa-free entry for Gorno-Badakhshan. Can be applied for with the e-visa or via a Tajik embassy; inside the country, at the MFA Consular Department in Dushanbe. Permits are sometimes suspended at short notice. Areas within 20 km of the Afghan border in Khatlon need a separate permit. Official site

At the border

Official details are shown in English.

  • Passport valid at least 6 months on arrival, with 2 blank pages
  • No visas are issued at land border crossings
  • Declare cash over US$3,000; you may bring in up to US$10,000
  • Children travelling with one parent need written consent from the other; without parents, consent from both

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. Tourist visas cannot be extended. Most other visa types can be extended at the MFA Consular Department in Dushanbe. Stays over 90 days need an HIV-free certificate.
  • What overstaying costs. Even a short overstay brings a fine and requires an exit visa, which is not issued at airports.

Good to know

Official details are shown in English.

  • Minefields lie along the Dushanbe–Khorog road and in border areas; stay on marked roads.
  • If conflict flares up in GBAO, foreigners may face access restrictions, roadblocks and mobile and internet cuts.
