What it means in practice

30 days is about a month. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 30 November 2026, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

For a longer base you need an extension, if one exists, or a different visa from the start. Repeated back-to-back entries are at the officer's discretion.

How Cambodia counts your stay: Permitted stay is shown on your visa and entry stamp.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • Visa on arrival — tourist (T) — Cost: Paid at the visa counter; Processing: At the airport or border checkpoint; Validity: As stated on the visa; Stay: As stated on the visa. Apply on the official site
  • Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) — Before arrival; Free. Combines the arrival card and customs/health declaration for travellers arriving by air. Submit on arrival.gov.kh or in the CamboAPP; show the QR code at immigration. Tablets at the airport are a fallback. It does not replace a visa. Land and sea arrivals still use paper forms at the checkpoint. Official site
  • Cambodia e-Visa (tourist, type T) (optional) — Before travel; Shown on the official portal at payment. Optional for travellers who can also get a visa on arrival, but it saves queueing. Apply only on the official site evisa.gov.kh; print the e-Visa and carry it. Upload a passport-style photo and the passport bio page. Official site

At the border

  • Passport valid at least 6 months
  • e-Arrival QR code (air arrivals)
  • Printed e-Visa or visa obtained on arrival

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. Extensions are handled by the General Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh; apply before your stay expires.
  • Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Cambodia. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
