What it means in practice

90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

How Suriname counts your stay: Up to 90 days per entry for tourism. After 30 days in Suriname, foreigners must report within one week to the Immigration Section of the police for an extension-of-stay stamp.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • Immigration and Customs Form (ICF) — Up to 7 days before arrival and again before departure; at the latest before boarding; Free. Mandatory for every passenger arriving in or leaving Suriname, including children on their own passport and transit passengers. Online only; you upload a selfie and receive a QR code by e-mail. Show the QR at arrival and departure. Without an ICF you may be refused boarding. A new form is needed for every trip; it cannot be edited after submission. Official site
  • Entry fee (e-Tourist Card) — Online before departure; it cannot be paid on arrival; USD 54. All nationalities that do not need an e-visa pay the entry fee. Exempt: CARICOM and Vatican passports, diplomatic and service passports, UN laissez-passer, PSA holders, residents of Suriname and holders of a valid e-visa. When flying in, show the entry fee voucher to airline staff at check-in. Valid for one entry and a stay of up to 90 days. Official site

At the border

Official details are shown in English.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months on arrival
  • ICF QR code, plus the entry fee voucher or e-visa
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a country with yellow fever transmission risk
  • Minors travelling without a parent or guardian need signed consent from one parent, a copy of that parent's passport and proof of parental responsibility

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. Stays over 3 months require an MKV (Authorisation for Temporary Stay) obtained from a Surinamese embassy before travel; residence cannot be applied for while on a tourist or business visa. Overstaying is illegal.
  • What overstaying costs. Overstaying is illegal.

Good to know
