What it means in practice
30 days is about a month. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 30 November 2026, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.
For a longer base you need an extension, if one exists, or a different visa from the start. Repeated back-to-back entries are at the officer's discretion.
How Zimbabwe counts your stay: Stay as granted on the visa, usually 30 days.
Before you go
Official details are shown in English.
- Visa on arrival (Category B) — Cost: Depends on nationality and entry type, cash US dollars in small notes (e.g. USD 30 single / USD 45 double for French citizens); Processing: Issued at the port of entry; Validity: Single or double entry; multiple entry on arrival only for UK, US and Canadian citizens; Stay: Usually 30 days. Apply on the official site
- Zimbabwe e-visa (optional for visa-on-arrival nationalities) (optional) — At least 3 weeks before travel; processing averages 7 working days; Stated in your approval; depends on nationality and entry type (e.g. USD 30 single / USD 45 double for French citizens). Types: single entry (valid 1 month), double entry (3 months), multiple entry (6 months), KAZA UniVisa (1 month). Validity counts from the date of issue. Fees are non-refundable. At the border
Official details are shown in English.
- Passport valid at least 6 months after arrival with 3 blank pages
- US dollars in small notes for the visa fee
- Yellow fever certificate if arriving from a country with yellow fever risk
- Declare cash of USD 10,000 or more; you may not leave with more than USD 2,000 in cash
How to avoid overstaying
- Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
- Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
- Extend before you run out. Apply in person at the Department of Immigration in Zimbabwe before your stay ends.
- Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Zimbabwe. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
