What it means in practice

90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

How Venezuela counts your stay: Tourist card holders: up to 90 days from entry. Overstaying can lead to arrest and a fine on departure.

Before you go

  • Travel permit for children — Before travel; Depends on the issuing office. A child travelling alone, with a guardian or with only one parent needs a permit from the non-travelling parent(s), issued by SAREN or a children's court in Venezuela, or by a Venezuelan embassy or consulate if the child lives abroad. Carry it during the trip; without it the child can be stopped from leaving. Official site

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. Apply and pay at any SAIME office before the tourist card and entry stamp expire (up to 90 more days). Residents apply at the main SAIME office of their state.
  • What overstaying costs. Overstaying can lead to arrest and a fine on departure.
