What it means in practice

30 days is about a month. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 30 November 2026, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

For a longer base you need an extension, if one exists, or a different visa from the start. Repeated back-to-back entries are at the officer's discretion.

How Guinea counts your stay: As stated on the visa (short stays up to 90 days). Carry your documents: police checks are frequent.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate — At least 10 days before departure (the certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination); Cost of the vaccination at a certified centre. Required for all travellers aged 9 months and over arriving at Conakry airport, and for arrivals from countries with yellow fever risk at other entry points. A scan is also uploaded with the e-visa application.

At the border

Official details are shown in English.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival
  • E-visa registration receipt
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • On departure you may take out at most 100,000 GNF and up to USD 5,000 (or the euro equivalent)

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extensions. Our data has no extension route for Guinea; plan to leave on time or arrange a different visa in advance.
  • Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Guinea. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.

Good to know

  • Political tension can spark protests that turn violent with little warning; avoid demonstrations, especially near military sites. The border with Sierra Leone can be closed at short notice.
