What it means in practice
90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.
How Ghana counts your stay: eVisa holders: up to 60 days, as stamped by the immigration officer on arrival.

At the border
Official details are shown in English.
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond your departure from Ghana
- eVisa or ETA (digital or printed), if you are not visa-exempt; the passport must be the one used to apply
- Return or onward ticket and accommodation details may be checked
- The immigration officer decides on entry and the length of stay
How to avoid overstaying
- Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
- Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
- Extend before you run out. Apply to the Ghana Immigration Service for an extension of visitor's permit before your permitted stay ends. Fee per month: GH¢65 (GH¢39 for ECOWAS nationals).
- Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Ghana. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
