What it means in practice

30 days is about a month. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 30 November 2026, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

For a longer base you need an extension, if one exists, or a different visa from the start. Repeated back-to-back entries are at the officer's discretion.

How Indonesia counts your stay: Visa on arrival: up to 30 days from the date of arrival. Visa validity (90 days for e-VOA) is not the same as the permitted length of stay.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • Visa on Arrival / e-VOA (B1 tourist visit) — Cost: IDR 500,000; Processing: Online before travel (e-VOA) or at the immigration checkpoint on arrival; Validity: Single entry; visa valid 90 days from issue (e-VOA); Stay: 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days. Apply on the official site
  • All Indonesia arrival declaration — Up to 3 days before arrival; Free. Mandatory for all passengers arriving from abroad at all airports and seaports since 1 October 2025. One form combines the immigration arrival card, customs declaration (e-CD), health and quarantine declarations. Declare animals, fish, plants or their products here too. Available on the website and in the official app; use only the .go.id address. Official site
  • Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) (optional) — Before travel (optional — VOA can also be bought at the border); IDR 500,000. Apply on the official portal and pay by Visa, Mastercard or JCB card. e-VOA holders can later extend their stay online. If you don't apply in advance, the visa on arrival is paid at the bank counter in the immigration area. Official site
  • Bali tourist levy (Love Bali) (optional) — Before or on arrival in Bali; IDR 150,000. Only if you visit Bali: a provincial levy on foreign tourists (Bali Provincial Regulation No. 2 of 2025), paid on the official Love Bali website or app. Some categories can apply for an exemption on the same site. At the border

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Return or onward ticket
  • All Indonesia declaration completed

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. VOA can be extended once for 30 days. e-VOA holders extend online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id; holders of a VOA bought at the border extend at the immigration office nearest to where they stay.
  • Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Indonesia. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
