• Online Arrival/Departure Card — Within 72 hours before travel — once before arriving and again before leaving; Free on the official website. Replaced the paper cards on 17 March 2026 and applies to everyone entering or leaving the country. After submitting you get a receipt with two QR codes; save it on your phone or print it and show it to immigration and customs officers. Use the same passport you will present at immigration. • Passport valid for at least 6 months after arrival; passports reported lost or stolen are refused
• Return or onward ticket
• Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
• QR receipt of the online arrival card (on phone or printed)
• Declare cash over TTD 20,000; heavy penalties for not declaring

How to avoid overstaying

• Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
• Extend before you run out. Book an appointment by e-mail at least 2 weeks before your entry or extension stamp expires: extensions.north@gov.tt (Port of Spain), extensions.south@gov.tt (San Fernando), extensions.tobago@gov.tt (Tobago).
• Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Trinidad and Tobago. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.

• Canada advises avoiding non-essential travel to Laventille, Sea Lots, Beetham Estate Gardens, Cocorite (north of Western Main Road) and parts of downtown Port of Spain because of gang violence.
