What it means in practice
90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.
How Trinidad and Tobago counts your stay: The authorised period is stamped in your passport on arrival.
Before you go
Official details are shown in English.
- Online Arrival/Departure Card — Within 72 hours before travel — once before arriving and again before leaving; Free on the official website. Replaced the paper cards on 17 March 2026 and applies to everyone entering or leaving the country. After submitting you get a receipt with two QR codes; save it on your phone or print it and show it to immigration and customs officers. Use the same passport you will present at immigration. At the border
Official details are shown in English.
- Passport valid for at least 6 months after arrival; passports reported lost or stolen are refused
- Return or onward ticket
- Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
- QR receipt of the online arrival card (on phone or printed)
- Declare cash over TTD 20,000; heavy penalties for not declaring
How to avoid overstaying
- Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
- Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
- Extend before you run out. Book an appointment by e-mail at least 2 weeks before your entry or extension stamp expires: extensions.north@gov.tt (Port of Spain), extensions.south@gov.tt (San Fernando), extensions.tobago@gov.tt (Tobago).
- Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Trinidad and Tobago. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
