What it means in practice
Apply well before the trip: visa processing for Andorra depends on the embassy or consulate handling your application. The length of stay is the one printed on your visa.
How Andorra counts your stay: Up to 3 months as a visitor. Days in France or Spain on the way count toward the Schengen 90-in-180 limit.
Before you go
Official details are shown in English.
- Schengen visa (France or Spain), double or multiple entry — Cost: €90; children 6–11: €45; under 6: free; Processing: Usually up to 15 calendar days, up to 45 in some cases; Validity: As stated on the visa; single or multiple entry; Stay: Up to 90 days in any 180, within the days shown on the visa. Apply on the official site
- Schengen visa with at least two entries — No earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before the trip; €90; children 6–11: €45; under 6: free (visa centre service fee extra). Entering Andorra means leaving the Schengen area, so to come back through France or Spain your visa must allow re-entry: at least double entry, multiple entry if you cross several times. Apply to France (france-visas.gouv.fr) or Spain, depending on your route and main destination. Official site
- Travel medical insurance (min. €30,000) — Before applying for the visa / before departure; Depends on insurer. Must cover emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation and medical repatriation, be valid in all Schengen countries and cover the whole stay. Official site

- EU citizens: passport or national ID card
- Hotels and tourist apartments register guests with the police and need your passport details
- France and Spain strictly limit tobacco brought back from Andorra; excess tobacco and the vehicle can be impounded. Declare goods that may be taxed or dutiable

How to avoid overstaying
- Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
- Extend before you run out. For longer stays apply in person to Andorra's immigration department for a residence or work permit.
- Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Andorra. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.
