  • Check your passport for Israeli stamps — Before booking. Entry can be refused, even with a valid visa, if your passport shows an Israeli visa or stamp, or an Egyptian or Jordanian stamp from a crossing with Israel. Travel to or from Israel is illegal in Lebanon.

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 30 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. At General Security offices, up to three months in total.
  • What overstaying costs. Your visa must cover the whole stay; with an expired visa you cannot leave until it is extended or the overstay fine is paid (Lebanese pounds only, at the airport before security).
