What it means in practice
180 days is about six months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 April 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.
That is long enough to rent a place for a season, but a visitor stay is not residence: it does not give you the right to work for a local employer.
How Lebanon counts your stay: Your visa must cover the whole stay; with an expired visa you cannot leave until it is extended or the overstay fine is paid (Lebanese pounds only, at the airport before security).

- Check your passport for Israeli stamps — Before booking. Entry can be refused, even with a valid visa, if your passport shows an Israeli visa or stamp, or an Egyptian or Jordanian stamp from a crossing with Israel. Travel to or from Israel is illegal in Lebanon.

- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond your planned departure
- Make sure you get an entry stamp: you need it to leave
How to avoid overstaying
- Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
- Plan to leave a day or two early. With 180 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
- Extend before you run out. At General Security offices, up to three months in total.
- What overstaying costs. Your visa must cover the whole stay; with an expired visa you cannot leave until it is extended or the overstay fine is paid (Lebanese pounds only, at the airport before security).
Good to know
Official details are shown in English.
- A child travelling with one parent may need the other parent's authorisation letter to leave.
- If you get a new passport in Lebanon, bring the old one with the entry stamp when you leave.
