What it means in practice

90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

How Serbia counts your stay: Visa-free period depends on nationality: e.g. 30 days for Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan; 90 days within 180 for Ukraine; 90 days within 6 months from first entry for the US, UK and EU.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • Police registration within 24 hours — Within 24 hours of arrival or of changing address; Free. Hotels and private hosts register guests themselves. If nobody registers you (for example, you stay with friends), go to the local police station within 24 hours. Keep the registration slip. Official site

At the border

Official details are shown in English.

  • Valid passport; ID cards only for nationalities with an agreement (e.g. Germany)
  • Funds of €50 per day of stay (cash or bank statement); may be checked
  • Border police may ask for a return ticket, hotel booking or invitation letter
  • Health insurance is recommended (cover from €20,000)

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. To stay longer, apply for temporary residence at the police before your permitted stay ends.
  • Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Serbia. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.

Staying longer

Visa-free days are for visits. For months or years in Serbia, these are the long-stay routes in Bordr's guide (checked against official sources):
