Ukraine visa for Emirati citizens

Visa-free

90 days visa-free

Emirati citizens can visit Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days. Ukraine is at war: martial law is in force throughout the country and its airspace is closed, so there are no flights — entry is only overland from neighbouring countries. Many governments advise against all travel to most of Ukraine.

What it means in practice

90 days is about three months. If you arrive on 1 November 2026, your last legal day is 29 January 2027, because the arrival day is day one. Use the stay calculator for your own dates.

Days in Ukraine also add up over time: 90 days in any 180. Leaving and coming back does not reset that total, so earlier stays count. The stay calculator checks both limits when you add your earlier trips.

How Ukraine counts your stay: Visa-free: 90 days in any 180. Carry your passport at all times; follow local martial-law rules and curfews, which differ by region.

Before you go

Official details are shown in English.

  • Plan an overland route — Before departure; —. Ukraine's airspace is closed. Enter by road or rail from an EU country or Moldova; queues at crossings can be long. The borders with Russia and Belarus are closed. Check crossing waiting times on the State Customs Service site and the rules of each country you pass through. Official site
  • Travel insurance that covers Ukraine (optional) — Before departure; Depends on insurer. Many standard policies exclude war zones; check that yours covers your itinerary. Official site

At the border

Official details are shown in English.

  • Fill in an immigration card; fingerprints may be taken
  • Proof of sufficient funds may be asked: cash, cards with statements, bookings, tourist vouchers, a sponsor's letter or return/onward tickets
  • Visa-free entry: passport valid for the planned length of stay
  • Entering through a crossing not controlled by Ukraine (occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, east-bank Kherson, Crimea, Kerch Bridge) is illegal: arrest, fine and entry ban
  • The State Border Guard Service makes the final decision on entry

How to avoid overstaying

  • Go by your stamp or visa. The date the officer gives you is the one that counts, even if it is shorter than the maximum.
  • Plan to leave a day or two early. With 90 days, book your exit before the last legal day so a cancelled flight doesn't push you over.
  • Extend before you run out. Stays beyond 90 days in 180 need a visa or residence permit.
  • Keep a record of every entry and exit. The period limit adds up all your stays, and border officers can see them.
  • Penalties. Our data does not list the overstay penalty for Ukraine. Ask the immigration authority before you risk it: fines, deportation and entry bans are common elsewhere.

Good to know

Official details are shown in English.

  • Do not photograph government or military sites. Landmines and unexploded munitions are a risk nationwide, worst in the south and east; if you see one, keep away and call 101.
  • Expired temporary or permanent residence cards stay valid for re-entry during martial law and for 30 days after it ends.
  • Power cuts can disable ATMs and card terminals; carry some cash (US dollars and euros are easiest to exchange).
